The dream of most riders is to win their home grand prix. The contingent of British World Superbike and World Supersport riders have two chances, Donington Park and Silverstone. British weather is notoriously fickle, regardless of the time of the year, but this year that wasn’t the case.

Monster Energy rider Eugene Laverty scored his second podium finish in a row with a hard-fought third place finish in the lone shortened World Superbike race at the fabled Monza circuit nearly Milan, Italy.

Casey Stoner (Honda) beat Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) and Dani Pedrosa (Honda) to win the Spanish Grand Prix on a partly wet track in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. The same three riders had been on the podium in the season-opener in Qatar and could dominate the season. Who, the trio was asked, were the riders most likely to join the battle at the front? Without hesitation they agreed on two names, and one in particular.

The race session was shaping up for a podium finish before disaster struck and Ben’s machine found itself surfing curbs and called on an emergency release for Keith so they could complete the race.
