Il team Monster Energy Kawasaki ha ricevuto un brutto colpo ad inizio settimana, prima del penultimo round della Monster Energy / AMA Supercross Series, quando i risultati sui test svolti sul due volte Campione AMA Supercross Ryan Villopoto dopo la sua caduta al Supercross di Seattle hanno evidenziato un infortunio al ginocchio che non gli permetterà di correre per il resto della stagione. Questo significa che il pilota Monster Energy non potrà difendere il suo titolo AMA National Outdoor Motocross né correre le gare rimanenti della Supercross Series.

Dopo il successo della scorsa settimana a New Orleans, in Louisiana, il contingente Monster Energy è partito fiducioso alla volta di Seattle, dove il pilota Monster Energy / Pro Circuit Kawasaki Dean Wilson è ritornato in azione insieme alla serie Lites West dopo due mesi di pausa e i piloti Monster Energy Kawasaki Ryan Villopoto e Jake Weimer si sono dati battaglia nella 450cc.

One thing that Mitch Payton and his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad is great at is spotting talent. Last year, Darryn Durham raced a privateer Honda, and he was fast all year long, when he was healthy. The Pro Circuit team needed a fourth rider for 2012, so Payton took a chance on Durham.
