Formula 1 World Championship leader Jenson Button to run the Monster Energy M-Claw logo
The world’s top driver in 2009 joins the Monster Army to help further expand the rapidly growing Monster Energy brand all over the world
CORONA, Calif., (Jun. 19th
, 2009) – Formula 1 driver Jenson Button has blasted the competition into the weeds in 2009 on his way to leading the World Championship, and has grabbed practically every motorsport headline in the process. And now people are going to associate him with one of the most recognizable energy drink brands on the planet as well, as JB is set to run the Monster Energy M-claw logo for the rest of 2009.
Continuing its global push, the No. 1 by-volume sales energy drink in the United States – Monster Energy – will look to Button as a means of delivering Monster’s ‘core’ message to the legions of fans that follow the world’s highest expression of four-wheel racing.
“Going Big has been our motto at Monster Energy for some time and after already having aligned ourselves with Valentino Rossi on two wheels earlier this year, we’ve aimed for the absolute top once more on four wheels,” said Mark Hall, President of Monster Energy. “Jenson’s performances this year have been simply outstanding, so he is the perfect fit for Monster Energy as we continue to expand across the globe.”
The 29 year-old Briton has seven Grand Prix victories to his name, six of those coming this season, and currently leads the Formula 1 World Championship by 26 points. Driving for Brawn GP, he has amassed 61 points out of a possible 65, and was buoyed by the announcement of the new sponsorship deal.
“I’m delighted to be joining up with Monster Energy and becoming the only Formula 1 driver to carry the M-Claw logo,” said Button. “Monster is growing all over the world and I am very excited to be joining them. The car has been all-white more or less so far, so the M-Claw is bound to be really striking on my new helmet!”
Monster Energy’s Jenson Button races in his home GP at Silverstone this weekend (June 21st
), and will be hoping to add to his impressive tally of victories and increase his staggering lead in the series.
